UNESCO seeks creative partner to develop global campaign for World Press Freedom Day 2022

The campaign will be launched before May 3 and is expected to be linked to the theme of World Press Freedom Day 2022 “Journalism under surveillance”, which will focus on digital challenges related to media and press freedom. Read the Concept Note summary to learn more about the Day’s theme (PDF).
World Press Freedom Day celebrates the fundamental principles of press freedom, to assess press freedom around the world, to defend the media against attacks on their independence and to pay tribute to journalists who have lost life in the exercise of their profession. UNESCO coordinates the Day’s commemorations, which involve around 100 celebrations in countries around the world and leads the main celebration by organizing a global conference with the host government and various partners working in the field of freedom of expression. The 2022 edition of the World Press Freedom Day Conference will take place in Uruguay from May 2-5, 2022.
The campaign should mobilize leading newspapers and media organizations and leading journalists, experts, influencers and activists around the world, who spread the campaign through different media and social media. Read the Terms of Reference to find examples from previous WPFD campaigns (PDF).
