Stephen Curry calls a reporter for a snafu press conference
Tuesday’s press conference with the Golden State Warriors was an opportunity to discuss the intricacies of Game 3 of the NBA Finals scheduled for Wednesday night. For Dubs superstar Stephen Curry, however, it turned out to be a chance for him to hilariously call out a reporter during an unexpected moment of unprofessional behavior.
Curry took aim at The Athletic’s Marcus Thompson after the reporter’s phone started ringing in the middle of the press conference. The Warriors superstar couldn’t help quoting Thompson for his indiscretion:
“Marcus Thompson, amazing, I’m calling you,” Curry said. (h/t NBA on Twitter). “It’s like when you’re in church and the pastor is giving a sermon, and you’re there with your phone.”
The Warriors star then burst out laughing with the whole room when Thompson apologized for the snafu.
“I would like to begin by repenting of my press conference sins,” Thompson said.

Hilariously, Thompson’s phone started ringing again as he asked Steph his question. The reporter then revealed that it was his daughter calling him, to which the Warriors talisman responded by saying he shouldn’t blame it on his child.
Simply put, it’s the kinds of interactions Curry has with the media that make him such a beloved figure in the press. Never change, Steph.
