Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince welcomes new Pakistani Prime Minister

Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman met Pakistan’s new Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif at al-Salam Palace, the official Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Saturday.
During the meeting, the two leaders discussed “prospects for bilateral cooperation and promising opportunities as well as ways to develop them in various fields,” SPA reported.

The meeting was reportedly preceded by a welcoming ceremony organized by the Kingdom in honor of the new Pakistani leader.

A suite of high-ranking ministers of the Kingdom representing the Home Office, Foreign Affairs, Trade, Energy, Defence, Media, etc. were present.
Before meeting the Kingdom’s rulers, Sharif arrived in Medina in Saudi Arabia to perform prayers at the Prophet’s Mosque.
Before arriving in the Kingdom, Sharif said via Twitter that his visit was aimed at reaffirming the “ties of brotherhood and friendship” between the two countries.
Today I am undertaking a visit to Saudi Arabia to renew and reaffirm our bonds of brotherhood and friendship. I will have in-depth discussions with Saudi leaders. KSA is one of our greatest friends and as guardian of the two holy places he has a special place in all of our hearts.

Sharif was elected Pakistan’s new prime minister on April 11. His cabinet was sworn in last week in a brief ceremony in the capital Islamabad.
