NEP 2020 focuses on regional languages, mother tongue, says Union Minister Subhas Sarkar

Union Minister Dr. Subhas Sarkar said on Tuesday that under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, emphasis is placed on promoting mother tongue and regional languages.
The NEP has no plans to impose Hindi, the minister said while chairing a meeting in Namsai district, Arunachal Pradesh.
The Union Minister of State for Education was in the state to review NITI Aayog’s ambitious district scheme.
Namsai is one of 112 districts in the country under NITI Aayog’s Aspirational District Program (ADP), which was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in January 2018.
The aspirational districts were identified by Niti AAYOG based on health and nutrition, education, agriculture and water resources, financial inclusion and skills development indicators that impact the human development index (HDI).
The minister commended the district administration for achieving various goals and conducted a comprehensive sector review of the ADP, according to an official statement.
During his interaction with the officers, the Minister sought information on deficiencies and observations made on the ground to focus on.
Regarding the Jal Jeevan mission, the minister urged officials to sensitize the masses to instill a sense of belonging in them.
“The Namsai team can change the economy, health, education and other sectors of the district, for which all stakeholders should endeavor to work with dedication to bring historic changes to the district,” stressed The Minister.
