Kerala Minister P Rajeev says COE requested not to publish Hema Commission report | Kerala News

Thiruvananthapuram: P Rajeev, the Minister of Law, has revealed that Women in Collective (WCC) has requested not to publish the report of the Hema Justice Commission which was set up to study gender bias in the film industry.
The minister said so in an interview with English media.
He added that it is not imperative to publish the report because the Hema Commission was not constituted according to the guidelines of the Law on the Commission of Inquiry.
Later, the minister said that the WCC had already made it known that the report should not be published. Many female artists testified before the commission after being assured of the secrecy of the report.
Meanwhile, the Minister added that the WCC has asked to implement the Commission’s recommendations.
The Women in Cinema Collective was formed after the infamous 2017 actress assault case. .
The WCC had previously criticized the government for the delay in implementing the recommendations.
Culture Minister Saji Cherian informed the Legislative Assembly that the details of the report cannot be published as it contains the personal experiences of many people.
