Grenadians will go to the polls on Thursday, June 23, 2022, Prime Minister Dr. Keith Mitchell has announced.
On Saturday evening, Mitchell, the leader of the ruling New National Party (NNP), announced the date at a policy meeting at Telescope, St. Andrew.
He said he asked the governor general to dissolve parliament, effective Monday, May 16.
According to the Grenada Government Information Service (GIS), the Prime Minister has also asked the Governor General to issue the writ for the May 17 elections.

“This essentially means that Grenadians who are not yet registered have just one day left to do so and be able to vote in the next general election,” GIS reported, adding that the day candidates are nominated will be Wednesday, June 1. .
The police will take part in the advance poll on Monday, June 20.
Grenada held its last elections in 2018 and the NNP has won the polls in the last two general elections, winning all 15 seats in parliament.
The ruling NNP will seek a third term.
He will face a challenge from the main opposition party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
The NDC will contest the election with young lawyer, Dickon Mitchell, at the helm.
Days before the official announcement of the poll in Grenada, the leader of the NDC published an open letter to election supervisor Elvis Morain on the party’s official website.
The letter expressed concern over “continuing concerns” about the management of the electoral process in Grenada, particularly the functioning of sub-offices in some constituencies.
“If these concerns are not immediately addressed, it will not be possible to hold free and fair elections in the future as the electoral process will be compromised,” the letter said.
