Doctor tears up Johnson’s Covid press briefing

The end of England’s mandatory coronavirus rules will cause ‘enormous anxiety’ among immunocompromised and disabled people, leaving them feeling ‘abandoned’ and ‘forgotten’, charities have warned.

Well, a doctor skimmed through the Prime Minister’s comments last night and translated them from ‘bullshit’ to truth.

The scrapping of free universal testing has been described as ‘not only reckless but dangerous’, with one charity saying vulnerable people could be forced into re-isolation.

People who test positive for coronavirus will no longer be legally required to self-isolate from Thursday, and free universal testing will end in April.

Free universal testing will be massively reduced from April 1 and instead focus on the most vulnerable, with the UK Health Security Agency to work out the details, while some degree of asymptomatic testing will continue in the riskiest settings such as social networks. care.

The government document outlining the plan for ‘living with Covid’ says the government will continue to communicate to those most vulnerable to Covid-19 the clinical interventions available, including vaccination and treatment, as well as testing and counseling for public health.

Phillip Anderson, policy officer at the MS Society, said the Prime Minister’s plan ‘does not provide a credible explanation of how more than 500,000 immunocompromised people, including some with MS, can live safely in the sides of the virus”.

Bullsh*t translation thread

Well, Dr Dan Goyal was also watching the Prime Minister relax just about every Covid rule in the pre-pandemic world.

He took many parts of the press conference and translated it, in his opinion, from bullshit to truth.

1.

The PM Covid briefing…

…it was another masterclass of spin and sleight of hand, with hints and revelations from Whitty and Patrick.

Here’s my take after running it through the Bullsh*t translator.

2.

Prime Minister’s opening remarks:
PM: “There was no choice but to use government regulations to protect our NHS and save lives.”
Translation: We don’t think it’s the government’s job to protect people from a deadly new virus, but we were forced to when hospitals filled up.

—Dr. Dan Goyal (@danielgoyal) February 22, 2022

3.

PM: We have sacrificed our freedoms – economy, society and education.
Translation: We didn’t realize the colossal impact on the economy, society and education if we did everything to protect the public until the last minute.

—Dr. Dan Goyal (@danielgoyal) February 22, 2022

4.

PM: From the start, we were clear that we needed to chart a path back to normality…through vaccines and treatments to replace restrictions.
Translation: we bet 100,000 lives on a failed herd immunity strategy and now we are enjoying the success of British scientists and NHS staff.

—Dr. Dan Goyal (@danielgoyal) February 22, 2022

5.

PM: “We came out of the teeth of the pandemic before many others”
Translation: We have been kicked out of the pandemic’s anus after it chewed us up, killed 150,000 people, disabled many more, decimated our healthcare system and our economy.

—Dr. Dan Goyal (@danielgoyal) February 22, 2022

6.

PM: “Getting one of the most open economies in the world.”
Translation: we took the opportunity presented to us by the pandemic to open public coffers to our cronies and loot public services, making it about 0.001% very rich.

—Dr. Dan Goyal (@danielgoyal) February 22, 2022

7.

PM: We passed Omicron’s peak with less than 10,000 hospital admissions…
Translation: I have no idea what I’m talking about! Does the virus have a spike – does it have to be that damn spike thing? 10,000 is a lot? That doesn’t seem like a lot. My renovation cost a lot more.

—Dr. Dan Goyal (@danielgoyal) February 22, 2022

8.

PM: We are fortunate to complete the transition to normality…
Translation: …I don’t have the attention span to figure out how to get us back to ‘normal’, so I’ll do whatever is in my own best interest.

—Dr. Dan Goyal (@danielgoyal) February 22, 2022

9.

PM: We will continue to work with decentralized nations…
Translation: We will do what we want and because we dictate Covid laws and pandemic spending, they just have to follow!

—Dr. Dan Goyal (@danielgoyal) February 22, 2022

ten.

PM: From April 1 we will be asking people to exercise personal responsibility if they have Covid to be considerate just like the flu.
Translation: Nothing to worry about, it’s like the flu, probably… well, we’ll see, won’t we.

—Dr. Dan Goyal (@danielgoyal) February 22, 2022

11.

PM: Excess mortality is lower than it usually is at this time of year.
Translation: No idea what that means, but it sounded good on Twitter.

—Dr. Dan Goyal (@danielgoyal) February 22, 2022

12.

PM: We need to reduce testing to save money.
Translation: Sorry folks, I think we’ve overloaded the Brits enough and now they’re starting to notice, so we have to backtrack a bit.

—Dr. Dan Goyal (@danielgoyal) February 22, 2022

13.

PM: After all the efforts of the past two years, we are restoring our freedoms.
Translation: We have no idea what we’re doing and really don’t like feeling dumb when we talk to scientists, so we don’t want to play anymore.

—Dr. Dan Goyal (@danielgoyal) February 22, 2022

14.

PM: And we stop almost all testing
Translation: and we take our ball with us!

—Dr. Dan Goyal (@danielgoyal) February 22, 2022

15.

PM: A proud moment for our nation.
Translation: we are delighted to have succeeded in reverting the UK back to the good old days of peasants staying in their place.

—Dr. Dan Goyal (@danielgoyal) February 22, 2022

16.

Whitty comes next, and his opening line is actually quite damning:
Whitty: Cases are going down, but they’ve hit an “extraordinary” spike…
Translation:We told you it would be devastating, but you just didn’t listen!

—Dr. Dan Goyal (@danielgoyal) February 22, 2022

17.

Whitty: Cases are still very high and the elderly and vulnerable are still infected.
Translation: This guy [PM] is a good locomotive!

—Dr. Dan Goyal (@danielgoyal) February 22, 2022

18.

Whitty: Hospital admissions are still high and causing severe disruption to other services.
Translation: as we said!
Whitty: Like the other peaks
Translation: it will happen again and again until you listen!

—Dr. Dan Goyal (@danielgoyal) February 22, 2022

19.

Whitty: Those who say it’s a trivial illness need to look at how many have been hospitalized and CONTINUE to be hospitalized.
Translation: You adjustable wrench… we still have ten thousand people hospitalized… it’s not the fucking flu, and it’s not over, you absolute tool!

—Dr. Dan Goyal (@danielgoyal) February 22, 2022

20.

Whitty: …including the elderly and vulnerable
Translation: you kind of heartless, spineless, power-hungry human child.
Whitty: Many are still showing up for their 1st, 2nd and booster shots
Translation:We haven’t even finished vaccinating the population and you say it’s over!

—Dr. Dan Goyal (@danielgoyal) February 22, 2022

21.

Whitty: While numbers remain high [of a ‘significant and highly transmissible’ disease] it makes sense to continue to insulate, ventilate and mask.
Translation: We informed the Prime Minister that isolation, ventilation and masks are still necessary, but the numty is not listening.

—Dr. Dan Goyal (@danielgoyal) February 22, 2022

22.

All in all, it feels like a lot of negotiations took place behind the scenes. Perhaps Whitty would only stand next to PM if the reality is a steady, tentative expectation – ONS inquiry stands, ‘at risk’ group still with free tests, escalates if and when the transmission ..

—Dr. Dan Goyal (@danielgoyal) February 22, 2022

23.

… peaks -, and the Prime Minister still had enough for the big show of “ending” restrictions.
If so, the negotiation over the test of those reporting to the NHS remains up for grabs. If they are smart, they will also negotiate to improve health care capacity and staff retention.

—Dr. Dan Goyal (@danielgoyal) February 22, 2022

24.

But equally, there seemed to be enough progress on excess deaths (Whitty) and infection immunity (Valance) to allow them to see the removal of isolation and masks as not being absolutely abhorrent. . They didn’t see how weak Johnson had become without them.

—Dr. Dan Goyal (@danielgoyal) February 22, 2022

25.

They protested the Prime Minister’s pandemic leadership by staying away. Negotiations brought them back. Was it enough? Did they negotiate well enough? Probably not.

Coming out of solitary at this point is still heinous, IMV, and what they got back wasn’t enough to justify supporting this PM!
