Chelsea press conference recap: Thomas Tuchel on the Carabao Cup final, Kepa, Rudiger, Kante, VAR

Good evening and welcome to the live coverage of Thomas Tuchel’s post-match press conference following tonight’s Carabao Cup semi-final second leg victory over Tottenham Hotspur.

The Blues have booked their place at Wembley next month with an impressive performance. Antonio Rudiger put Chelsea ahead in the first half to open up a three-goal lead in the game.

Tottenham, rather weakly, attempted a retaliation and thought they had received a free kick when Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg was shot down by Rudiger. However, after review by VAR, the decision was overturned and a free kick was awarded instead.

This process was repeated in the second half after Lucas Moura was knocked down by Kepa. Fortunately, the Spaniard had plenty of the ball and after consulting with the monitor on the pitch, referee Andre Marriner changed his initial decision.

Tottenham then ruled out a goal for offside after Harry Kane had a nice finish. Once again, however, it was the right decision.

Despite the above incidents, Chelsea did not come under too much pressure from Tottenham and secured their place in the final – against Arsenal or Liverpool – without any problems.

We’ll have all of Tuchel’s post-match thoughts. Updates will appear below.
