Good evening and welcome to the live coverage of Thomas Tuchel’s post-match press conference following Chelsea’s 2-0 win over Tottenham in the Carabao Cup semi-final first leg.

Thomas Tuchel received a heavy blow in the preparation of the competition after Thiago Silva and N’Golo Kante returned positive Covid tests. We will have the latest news on the duo from the Blues head coach shortly.

The game itself was dominated by Chelsea, who took the lead in five minutes. Marcos Alonso was the provider when he intercepted a pass, advanced and slid the ball to Kai Havertz. The German did the rest at close range.

Tuchel’s side had further opportunities to increase their lead and eventually scored a second goal under somewhat lucky circumstances.

Hakim Ziyech gave a free kick into the penalty area and Japhet Tanganga’s clearance was only blocked by Ben Davies and into the back of Tottenham’s net.

Chelsea had several other opportunities to add to their lead in the second half but were unable to seize them. They will, however, retain a two-goal advantage when they travel to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium next week.
